Three steps to a clean install

Snow guards only work when the product, the layout and the install all match the roof. Here's the order we recommend.

01

Confirm your panel

Match your panel profile to the right guard or clamp. Our panel compatibility calculator does it in seconds.

02

Get your layout

Row count and spacing depend on pitch, panel and your local snow load. We draw a free layout for your roof.

03

Install to the guide

Follow the SnoBlox-Snojax instructions below, and keep the spec sheet on hand for your inspector or engineer.

Snow guards move the snow load into your roof panels. Panels must be properly attached to the structure, and guards belong across the whole roof plane, not just above a door or vent.

  • Standing seam SnoBar/ColorBar systems call for a minimum 24-gauge steel panel with a 1" seam.
  • Weigh the risk of ice damming where snow will be held.
  • No system retains 100% of snow and ice. The designer, installer or owner confirms the system suits the roof.

Installer questions

Before you order or install

Which installation instructions do I need?

Match the guide to your product and how it mounts. All pad-style guards (Deuce, Ace, SnoJax, IceJax, EcoJax, SnowBreaker, SnowCatcher) share one snow guard guide. SnoBar and ColorBar rails have separate guides for aluminum RoofClamps, stainless clamps, screw-down ColorBrackets and two-bar systems. Pick your roof type above to narrow it down, or send us a photo.

Are these the official manufacturer instructions?

Yes. Every document is published by SnoBlox-Snojax, the manufacturer, and provided by Canada Snow Guards as an authorized Canadian SnoBlox-Snojax distributor.

Should I glue or screw my snow guards down?

Many of our pad-style guards come in both adhesive (SB-190) and screw-down kits, and the snow guard guide covers each method. Adhesive keeps the panel free of holes, while screw-down mounting suits exposed-fastener roofs. The SB-190 and NovaFlex data sheets list each product's technical requirements.

How many snow guards do I need, and how far apart?

It depends on your roof pitch, panel profile, roof length and local snow load. We draw free layouts matched to your roof. Send your details through the quote form.

What does the SnoBlox-Snojax warranty cover?

Goods proven defective due to materials are replaced or the purchase price refunded, and liability is capped at the purchase price. The designer, installer or owner is responsible for confirming the system suits the roof. Read the full warranty (PDF).

Can I print these or send them to my inspector?

Yes. Every document is a free download with no sign-up. Print it, email it or attach it to a permit or submittal package.

Still not sure?

Send us a photo of your roof. We'll tell you which guide to follow.

Tell us your town, roof pitch and panel. We'll confirm the right product, spacing and paperwork, with a free layout and a warrantied quote in Canadian dollars.
